Round Three of the championship was at the new Snetterton 300 Circuit in Norfolk. Testing had gone well for the team and we were looking forward to a strong showing.
Race 1
Hywel stared from p10 and Adderly p18 after some problems in qualifying. Both drivers made a good start with Adderly making some good passes early in the race, moving quickly through the pack and showing that he has a very good race pace. Hywel was pushing and was very determined to make up places and add points in the championship. By the end of the first thirty minute race Adderly was up to p12 and Hywel had worked his way up to p7 giving both drivers better grid positions for race two.
Race 2
With reverse grid positions for race two, Hywel would start p4 and Adderly p12 both in good positions for an exciting race! Hywel didn’t get the best starts and rounded the first corner in 5th. Adderly held his position and managed to avoid the shunt in turn 2, which collected three cars. Hywel was under pressure from Carlin’s Felipe Nasr but kept his cool and started to pull out a gap by the end of the twenty minute sprint race. Adderly was in a tough battle for the last points scoring position and made a small mistake in turn four resulting in a spin pushing him back down the field. Having to fight back again, he finally finished p14 with Hywel holding onto p5, matching his best finish of the season.
Race 3
For the final race of the day, Adderly would line up p18 and Hywel p8 as the lights went out both drivers made a good start, however Hywel was hit from the inside by Fortec’s Will Buller causing damage to the front wing. The safety car was deployed to clear Buller’s car allowing Hywel to pit for a new nose which was carried out very quickly and smoothly by the team. Hywel was then able to get back out on track before the safety car had come onto the pit straight. Adderly was up to p13 and made a very good restart, managing to move up to p12. For the rest of the race, Hywel kept working hard and would finish p14. Adderly again made up some good places from the start and would finish just outside the points in p11 showing that his race skills are improving every week and is just waiting for that break to lift him into the top ten very soon.
