Wet and Wild at Brands Hatch for Rounds 10 – 12

The team headed to Brands Hatch for Round Four of the series and will try and improve on our 2010 performance where we had our best result of the season with a p3 in the International Class.
Qualification
After a good free practice on the Friday, both Adderly and Hywel were very happy with the car and feeling confident of a good result. Adderly would have his best result of the season so far his first run would be good enough for p7 and on his second set of tyres would show that all the hard work that has been put in by him and the team to post a time good enough for p2. Hywel had both new tyre runs held up by other drivers on their hot laps, finishing the session with p12 for Race 1 & 3.
Race 1
The race would start under very wet conditions after a heavy downpour ten minutes before the start. With Adderly starting p7 and Hywel p12, it was looking like points were possible with both making a good start Adderly was up to p3 and Hywel p5. As other drivers started to pit 15 minutes into the race as the track dried out. Out of the team Adderly was first to pit for slicks, but there was a problem with the front right wheel resulted in loosing valuable seconds and resulted in Adderly rejoining in p15. Hywel pitted on the next lap and was back out on track just in front of Adderly. By this time they were p10 and p12 with three laps to go. Unfortunately, Hywel had a spin at through the fast right hander of Hawthorn and stalled putting him out of the race and Adderly would again finish p11.
Race 2
Race two was dry and Adderly would start p11 and Hywel p18. Hywel made a good start as Max Snegirev bogged down in front of him. As Hywel went passed he was hit from the right by Fortec’s Fahmi Ilyas, resulting in suspension damage and a retirement. Adderly had made a good start and was up into p10 where he held position for the rest of the race and scoring his first point of the year.
Race 3
The race started under very wet conditions after another heavy downpour just before the race, exactly like in Race 1. Adderly would start from the p2 and Hywel p12. From the start, Adderly didn’t get a good jump and dropped back to p6 but by turn 3 was back up to p4. Hywel made a good start and was up to p11. On lap 4 Fortec’s Lucas Foresti made a small mistake allowing Adderly to move back up to p3. As the rain started to come down again, Adderly spun dropping him back to p16 and promoting Hywel up to p9 as the safety car was deployed. The rain stopped and the safety car came back in a lap later. Adderly quickly made some very good passes to move back up to p11 only to spin again at turn 2 resulting in retirement. Hywel kept attacking to cross the line p7 and more good points for the team.

As a team we have come a long way since the last round at Snetterton and we aim to improve again as we head to Nurburgring for round five in two weeks time.
